El próximo 3 de septiembre verá la luz de la mano del sello UMC/UMe una extensa reedición del debut homónimo del malogrado guitarrista irlandés Rory Gallagher.
Entre los varios formatos en los que se podrá encontrar este “Rory Gallagher – 50th Anniversary Edition” (ver tracklistings más abajo), destaca una box set de cinco CDs en la que se incluye una nueva mezcla del álbum original, treinta outtakes y tomas alternativas inéditas hasta ahora, un concierto de seis canciones emitido en 1971 en el programa dominical de John Peel en la BBC Radio, cuatro temas más pertenecientes a otra sesión también en la BBC y un DVD que recoge el concierto de cincuenta minutos que Rory grabó en Paris para el programa televisivo “Pop Deux”, a al postre también su primer recital en solitario. Algunos de estos contenidos verán la luz también por separado.
Además del contenido musical, se incluye también un libreto de 32 páginas a cargo de su hermano y manager Donal Gallagher, su bajista de toda la vida Gerry McAvoy (fue miembro de su banda entre 1970 y 1991) y del fotógrafo Barrie Wentzell, del que también se incluyen numerosas imágenes inéditas. Se completa el contenido con una entrevista a Rory realizada también en 1971 por el periodista Roy Eldridge.
Grabado en los legendarios estudios Advision de Fitzrovia, Londres, el debut homónimo de Rory muestra al guitarrista irlandés como un intérprete polifacético del blues, con una sección transversal del blues, desde el acústico hasta el heavy blues soul.
